Description

Two fantasies, for fun today. This is a blend of my last 6 images! (Lol---Classy, huh? Just take all the stuff on my drive and throw it in a pot!) I messed with it for an hour... (Please zoom---it's long!) Mark

This is terrific! Tell me what it reminds me of! That surface, if that is the name for it, has a familiar feel. Thankyou for all those fabulous commentaries on my work, Mark. You are very kind!

OMG, first and last impression: an abstract of the Chicago skyline, trapped in a bleak nether abyss between two dimensions of reality. What have you wrought upon us, Mark? A zoom further reveals textures in a state of advanced deterioration, deeply enhanced by a potpourri of varying color effects. But the result is a winner as a result of your talented mind. Dadaists, eat your heart out.

Oh, I do like this. I wonder what I would get if I fiddled with my last 6 or 8 or 10 postings and layered them together? Inspiring!

Yes, exactly; this is exactly how that book I mentioned to you affects me, layer upon layer of meaning and texture and colours. This is brilliant, Mark!

What fun! I love the result. I seem to recall that you did something like this once before. (Is it in your gallery, or did you just send it to me for fun?) Like Bill, it makes me immediately think, "If I took my last six posts without regard for subject matter and combined them, what would I get?" It's an intriguing question, and one I'm SO temped to drop everything right this second to explore!! You really are inspiring, my friend.

Well, I did it! LOL! What did I learn? Ummm ... that my last six photographs were all architectural, and maybe I should do something different for a change! :P But I got a blended image that I REALLY like. I'll probably post it and tell everyone, "Okay I know this is a mess, but it's all Mark's fault, so please direct your complaints to his site mail @ anahata.c ... thank you."

Wow, Mark, this is a very cool abstract you created with all those images. Everything blends together perfectly, making for an extremely interesting and intriguing finished piece. And the man looking into the scene gives it a nice human quality. Great colors, too. Very fine work.

A very cool abstract expressionist urban fantasy. The lone figure at bottom right looks like Alfred Hitchcock, making one of his trademark cameo appearances...

Though this has more blue in it, and not too much apocalyptic decay filled with mostly-naked street-hooligans running around dressed in...um...holograms, it reminds me of the novel Dhalgren. So far, that's the only science fiction novel I know of that's ever been compared to the work of James Joyce. It's a controversial novel, to be sure, and it's brilliant. The action of the novel takes place in the fictional city of Bellona, a Midwestern city that looks suspiciously like the decay of New York in the 1970s; something happened there...the fabric of space/time has come unraveled...there are two moons in the sky, one of which is named George Harrison, and very strange things happen involving women who might be dryads, and obsessive, repressed, incomparably dangerous little girls who just might be the goddess, Juno...living in a city named after the ancient Roman destroyer of cities. Yeah...it's that kind of novel. Rich. Textured. Subtle. Just like this image: and it's long. This image is long, but in a different way. As is quite obvious to regulars on Renderosity, I've been away for quite a while. Life stuff got in the way. Actually, it didn't: work got in the way and life stuff just did what it always does. (provided photo ops!) But I'm slowly returning from the land of market research. Thankfully. What I really like about this image is the manner in which it has so many intriguing textures: some of them blend in with one another and others remain distinct. Each texture-fragment seems to have its own distinct personality, its own nature, and taken together, they create an amazing, rich and enigmatic image. This isn't the Chicago that I know: this is a refreshing, blue, exciting place, or to quote a song with a title I can't remember, it's "an alternate world, filled with stuff." And I agree with photosynthesis: I had no idea that Alfred Hitchcock visited Chicago. How cool is that? What grabs me the most is--quite simply--the textures. Each bit of excitement carries its own color, and though I recognize Chicago in this image, I see something else: another city that is a lot more interesting in many ways. I'd love to visit that place and listen to whatever music might be coming out of its pubs and radios and MP3 players. I get the distinct impression I'm seeing this place at night, and there's life in the streets, life along the lakeshore (seashore) and excitement in the shadows. This image invites both obervation and introspection, and that's always a perfect combination. I love this! It's fantastic, and it's inspired my own attempt.

I must thank Tara for pointing me to this image. I find myself at a loss for words and if you knew me better you would know how extraordinary that is. A superb work of art. Outstanding, amazing, stupendous. This would make one killer large scale lithograph.

Mark, this was a brilliant idea you had that really turned out great. Upon first glance I was totally blown away by the beautiful colors throughout, as well as the intricate detailing. I must say I don't know what your inspiration was to combine these images but I'm so glad you did.

Amazing, I'm so impressed by this "throw it in the pot" art, Mark! To be true, I'm speechless. This is impressive art with a capital K, and you might be able to address it as your profession. I am confident that people will be eager to buy these exceptional works of art, Mark. Thank you for showing it to us, its inspiring too, as I saw in Tara's gallery ;-).

You mentioned layering ? but 6 times ? - you are quite the acrobat ! - I can only do 2 - and proud of it ... but - somehow, it reminded me a bit of another one, one of my 'oldies' (from the 10.7.10, called 'Happy Landing' ) I must say - you have got good taste and I am in good company ! ;)) ~ Electric Blue ~ will always rope me in , stunning Mark ! It looks like there is a dark cloud hanging over the gentlemen's head - maybe just a thought bubble ? (saying: wish you were here!) - (or simply: GO AWAY !!!) BB
