Description
Captured 3/21/14, early morning, about 1-3/4ths mile from my archaic abode.
Seeking either signs of sentient extraterrestrial life out in the vast universe, or an I Love Lucy rerun.
Adios, amigos.

That's an old-style dish for sure; we used to have one in California that was about 8 feet across, it needed its own real estate. Anymore they've all gone to those little ones on the houses. Cool shot of this big old receiver!

This really changes in zoom. Your balance of angles, contrasts between dark and light, and the tonal differences in various grays (from gray-gray to a bluish gray that's quite enticing) all come out in zoom. It's a very well thought-out crop, composition and picture. And doused in a gray-day hue that seems to hang over it. Lol on the choice between super novas and I Love Lucy: I imagine it's picking up the latter. Your crop is really fine: That roof is all solid, but you give only so much of it, so the piece feels of the air. And the dish is big, but slim and kind of airborne. And against the perfect sky. (Boy, with some of the skies you've show us, it's astonishing how little rain you get! These are a cosmic tease!) A moody fine piece, with a high-tuned eye to composition, hue and cropping. (And I keep hoping some day a bunch of aliens will land, climb up on 2 million roofs, take down all the dishes, and cry, "we're taking our UMBRELLAS back! Jesus!")
