Description
Captured 4/27/14, at the beautiful Renaissance Faire, held at the beautiful Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, in semi beautiful Irwindale, California.
Yes, a little applause please, but for what? A hanging, a juggler, a whipping at the post, pillory punishment, arm wrestling, water torture, a drinking bout, a violin virtuoso, parrot gymnastics, a costume contest?
For the answer, tune in tomorrow for the startling revelation.
A ZOOM is definitely required, if for nothing else, detail.
Although high contrast dominates this photo, please, no overexposure comments on this one.

A hanging, I expect. My ancestors loved a good hanging. But they weren't nearly as well fed as these ladies.

Haa! you've given the game away with your "no overexposure comments on this one"....they're applauding a male stripper!....am I right?, bet I am (not :-) Great addition to a fascinating series, you've certainly captured the 'flavour' of the event. I am curious though, why only 'semi beautiful Irwindale' ??

A whole bevy of medieval beauties in all their colourful glory; maybe it was a jousting bout? Or jugglers? I guess we'll have to wait to find out what has these ladies so excited. Superb capture, Harry!!

Well a hanging would be fun and novel lol And in keeping with the period.. OK... So maybe slightly un-PC but I would vote for it.. Terrorists anyone? That aside, great shot Harry, I like this.. Well taken... Rob

Having seen the "payoff" shots, I already know what this is about. But when it went up, I thought it might be a musical event of some kind because everyone seems to be clapping at the same time, and that would suggest a regular rhythm. (Whaddya gonna do, I was a musician for 2 million years, lol. I see regulated beats, I see music...) Very joyous, and very vivid, more fine work with the light problem you faced. And your side shots---standing to the side of this lineup, so we see them fan out back into space---give it a sense of a sweep. A real delight. And it showcases the impact of all these costumes. Plus it's really nice to see the smiles everywhere, and to see those two women standing on the straw, to make them the "back frame" to the shot. A fav for this and the next shot, because they really do make a series. And I laugh at the "Smoke ye not" sign. I can imagine a "no smoking" rule in 1580: Whoever made that rule would be banished to France. A terrific pair---this and the following faire upload. Together they burst with joy.
