Description
Captured 3/21/14, early in the am, somewhere within the vast perimeter of the neighborhood.
Not as famous as the Leaning Tower of Pisa, but most noteworthy in its own right.
I tried to emulate ananhata.c, with his high key effects, in the variations.
Aloha.

I think the high key here is very successful, Harry!

I like your variations here, they work well. This fence, however, clearly is slacking on the job and needs replacement! Great find and photos, Harry!

Oooooo, I like this Harry. The fence doesn't look long for this world:) High key emulation gets top marks.

Well I'm flattered to be associated with these. Your color and black and whites have a gritty, very detailed feeling to them, like they're all drawn or etched, almost. Very perceptive work with this strange and fascinating collection of slats and decay (and slant). In your treatment, both color versions have lots of striation in them which is very rhythmic and rough-hewn. Your pov allows the striations to march together 'in formation', and it has a rat-a-tat rhythm as we move across them. You've delved into agitated textures---these are in stark contrast to your fence shots with the more sheer white painted surfaces. Terrific striation here. Your black and white versions are in near-threshold territory, getting real tonal harshness (a good thing) and a real etched look. You've filtered out several details too, so the remaining imagery is very sparse and sharp. I'd be proud to do this kind of black and white, Harry, it's all yours, and it's very fine. And the pov allows us to see the slats as a unit, tapering off as we go. Terrific find and postwork.
