On Aviation and Photography:
"You haven't seen a tree until you've seen its shadow from the sky." -- Amelia Earhart
“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

An amazing capture Bill. xx

I like the way the feathers change color from base to tip, as if one feather had accidently got dipped into the next paint pot. This is a terrific view! Birds are feathers and feet as well as eyes and beaks. :)

Amazing capture and dedication for Andrea. God bless.

What a marvellous plumage! They do have to spend a serious amount of time maintaining their feathers just to be healthy, so I'm glad I'm not a bird! Thankyou , Bill, for your wishes.

Fantastic colors, and a great capture of this colorful fellow, Bill! It's great even if he wasn't terribly cooperative.. So you gave Andrea the bird for her birthday, huh? Hehehehe :-P

This looks like a box of the most fun crayons EVER!!! A little fuzzy maybe, but wouldn't they be fun to play with? A great gift for Andrea---Happy Birthday to you!!

only 4 full-views, and that's a shame because this thing SINGS full size. It's a beauty. This kind of closeup, excerpting from a whole being/entity, is more common in Tara's gallery, I think, though you've done a number of closeups in the last months; but boy, you have it down beautifully. A real blast of color and light, to see the macaw's head this close; and cropped for just the feathers. The reds and yellows couldn't have worked better if they tried, and the blue tips are great too. And it all billows out, then pulls in, leaving space on the left. (Nice use of background.) This is wonderful, and a fitting burst for Andrea, our resident muse. Happy Birthday Andrea, and many, many more!!! (And btw, the reason the macaw didn't pose for you wasn't that he was cleaning his feathers: It's that he doesn't like your ISO's, OR your---his words---"paltry use of desaturation". Macaws hate desaturation. They call Ansel Adams "a piker". Ya know, I thought that would be funny, but on second look, it's downright pitiful. The whole macaw-not-liking-your-ISO bit just fell on it's face. You can ignore this part.) A terrific closeup shot, Bill.
