Description

Part 3 of a 4 part story/poem The Fog Like a curtain in ascent that lifts up gradually, the misty shadows of the night revealed themselves to me. To my shock the wrecks of cars appeared all round then I saw the bodies that were lying on the ground. With further lifting of the fog I caught a startled breath, for then I saw I was surrounded everywhere with death. The city lay in ruins what a devastating sight! Just a pile of rubble lying crushed beneath the night. What is this catastrophe? And what could be the cause? this thing that's all around me is defying natural laws. Dazedly I walked along eventually to stop, when I saw a mirror in the wreckage of a shop. Cautiously I looked at it though it appeared dull, then I saw my image there was nothing but a skull! A blackness overwhelmed me as consciousness withdrew, as my body tumbled down the fog swirled in anew.
