An exciting capture, great patterns on his wings, I do believe he does not sting despite the name. Nice shot and good to find a female too, although mating can be dangerous for the male.

A very sharp dresser but what a schnoz on his lady friend. I was thinking a better name would be the Toucan fly. Super sharp image. A great macro.

Super macro of the creature. Being a scorpion fly, it must have a stinger on its tail. And, I would be excited to see ANY kind of insect or arachnid around my neck of the woods.

Man, how'd you know the difference between the male and female? I can't fathom how you learned all this! A really strong closeup of the beautiful wings, and how it's so natural against that leaf. To us, it's a small leaf, but to the fly, it's a gigantic landing pad. Is it pregnant, I wonder? Is that what that sac on the end is? A beautiful creature in closeup. And you must do a lot of bending and craning to get these shots without a huge zoom lens. Very sweet work, Andrea.
