Description

Thank you for viewing and more so for leaving a comment if you feel so inspired. The central figure here is the outfit: African Wear by KobaltKween. This elegant skirt and top eloquently make a case for a closer look at the cloth room. KobaltKween makes posing (simming) this item a very straight-forward process. The possibilities are endless. The quality is unparalleled. Rocky cliff done in Blender (I can make this available as a freebie if anyone is interested), assorted plants from assorted vendors, hair by Alphaseed (Desir), seas by Bagginsbill and clouds by Mother Nature. ETA: KobaltKween very generously allowed me to use her sky shader (not yet released) which provided important lighting to the scene. Indeed, it is why you see details in the shadows. The sky image in the background is on a curved panorama plane: the skydome uses similar colours as the backdrop picture. Upon reflection, the sun light needs a bit of tweaking: not quite right for the apparent sun position in the picture. ETASM (edited to add some more): I finally did get it right, the lighting, I mean, which I probably can't replace now because it wouldn't be cool to sort-of keep improving the image/render, now would it? And yet, this is version 's'... how can I not post it? Well, I won't -- not the right thing to do, is it/ -- but for the curious, go to tightbytes-dot-com and in the Poser / Rendo folder, there's a file called lEau012s.... and it's a jpg.

Thank you, Lobo. Alphaseed makes it very easy to set the main pose for Desir Hair: and it was just a minor tweak or two to get it right for what I perceived the wind to be, which I created with a Wind Force gizmo in Poser to make that skirt flap around a bit whilst it was simming.

The cliff is a bit high-res. I was struggling with getting a realistic curvature and shape to the rocks whilst keeping that mesh showing through problem, which setting smooth off tends to fix. I might break it up, make several versions so that people don't freak on this mesh that weighs more than V4 herself... LOL

This is so beautiful and the lighting you used has captured a beautiful interaction between the subject and the breathtaking backdrop. Is this outfit also available for V4? I hope and I wish. :-) It's nice to see you posting again.

Thank you, Jenny. :) The outfit is for V4 and Dawn, and I believe available at that new store where Dawn is the main figure. I'm using V4-WM, a free conversion thing for V4 available at, well, you know where, you have very nice things there. :)

Really a beautiful image. The rock is nice and would be a great freebe. I am impressed with the lighting on the young lady. You are looking at her shadow side and yet the detail is super. Goooood job.

Thank you. :) The ambient lighting is provided by a skydome featuring a new sky shader by KobaltKween.

really impressive image and the work to get there was well worth it, I really love the way the light seems to touch on her upraised hand, that is sheer genius to making it real. this is one of the best composites I've seen in a long while

Thank you, Paul. Poser's sub-surface scattering feature makes this sort of effect possible. The skin shader is based on BB's James shader (post 240): Bagginsbill's Matmatic (a script for writing Python scripts that compile into Poser shaders) makes tweaking this shader much easier: you change skin shader parameters in one place, compile and install to your whole figure. Maybe someday Poser will include that as a feature, where you can apply a shader for a specific area (say, "leaves") for an entire scene in one double-click. ;-)

Oh, I think this looks beautiful! You've managed to make the skirt look backlit and translucent. I have no idea how you did it, but I wish I could get that look reliably. The sea looks beautiful. I'm so glad that the clothes are working well for you. I really like that the scene and figure is backlit. I often see scenes like this where the sky shows the sun in the back but the lighting is from the front. That cliff is really amazing. I love it! I'll have to learn more about your mapping technique. Does it use any displacement? I'm always glad to see you posting again, but this is an especially wonderful addition to your gallery.

Thank you so much, KobaltKween... your African set is indeed really easy to use and incredibly versatile. I did nothing special (that I'm aware of, or at least nothing deliberate) to achieve that backlit effect. Unless having two infinite lights, one with diffuse set to (0,0,0) = Black, to act as specular light, intensity = 35, the other with intensity = 65, positioned together, behind the subject... but, they're infinite lights: positioning shouldn't matter, right? Dunno... Perhaps the panorama (displaying the sky image) may be having an influence: ambient color at .8, highlight size at 100. And yes, I've got an inverted, desaturated image-copy plugged into displacement at .6 for the cliff.

Beautiful lighting work, especially on the translucence on the skirt from the back lighting. Good shadow detail on the character given the latter too. Nice work in Blender for the cliff and good control of settings for those realistic ocean waves. Most excellent work!
