Description
Captured on the dates indicated, early in the morning, in and around the neighborhood.
This unfortunate, pushing along his worldly belongings, and accompanied by his female partner - not shown, are a permanent fixture along the streets and boulevards of the city, sitting on various bus benches - when not pushing their property - during the day, and sleeping in the doorways of businesses at night.
Diane Arbus loved to photograph this kind of stuff.

What a hard life; there but for the grace of God go all of us, so they say...excellent captures of this denizen of your neighborhood, Harry. We have quite a few folks living on the streets here too.

People too often equate homelessness to that person character. In recent years many good people and whole families have found themselves in that situation through no fault of they own. It would be nice to know the person's story, if you're going to use their picture. You never know who it may be!! There was an article recently of a homeless man in NYC who use to be a Getty photographer!! Because the photographer took the time to get this man's story, he is now back on his feet again. So at least do the man the dignity of a portrait shoot and get his story, you maybe surprised!!!

Thanks for the moral and ethical assessment, but you're typical of the do gooders whose main purpose is to pop in from nowhere, never having been on my gallery before, not bothering to leave a comment on the quality of my photograph(s), and acting as if it's a crime to take pics of the down and out, only to disappear again into cyberspace. It's happened before. I'll leave this chap's fate to the social workers who are paid to save souls. My unpaid pasttime is to take photographs of anything I want and nothing else. I see these same people being lectured to by the police and others all of the time, but they are still out there pan handling, and that is their agenda. Speaking of which, don't bother lecturing me again, that is, if you ever decide to return to this spot.

I think this kind of scene is common in all Western countries, and today nothing is done properly so that these people may have unje decent life ... the more a society is "rich" unless it takes care of its poor.

Two great shots of this homeless with his belongings. Sure it's a hard life but at least the weather is good. Even here in Germany, there are many of them. Especially in the winter when it's really cold, I feel sorry for them.

Your shots are both from the back, and that makes us see him and his belongings as a 'unit', as he carries his worldly possessions in front of him, through the world. There's something powerful about seeing him from the back...he remains anonymous, but he's still very etched-out for us, a whole presence---ie, in his clothing, which is captured in great detail; in his posture, which seems unwavering even though he's pushing a big load; and in the overlay of stuff he has in front of him---both piles about the same size and mass. He's centered in both shots, and surrounded by some very lush greenery. The last shot, he's canopied by those trees. While I know nothing of him, the shots show him with dignity, and with the strength to push around that stuff all day long. Very nicely composed, Harry. With a lot of light in both shots.
