Description
I've been working on the railroad, figuratively speaking.
Captured 1/18/14, early in the morning, at a train crossing, far, far away.
In order for rr tracks to cross a street or any thoroughfare, wooden railroad ties certainly can't be used, so this is one way it's accomplished, with sophisticated flat metal plates instead.
Please ZOOM.

This is a great shot, Harry--that straight line going on and on and on to who knows where?

Most interesting to see all those different patterns.

amazing capture...I like it ...as a gateway spaceship!!!

It certainly is easier on the auto suspension than trying to cross the usual railroad design. I would imagine that breakdowns on the tracks are fewer with this design. With the sun at the vanishing point like that it makes a fantastic composition and capture, Harry; well seen and done!!

Nicely captured "modern" crossing, without the wooden ties.

Another fine RR-tracks shot from you, with your signature apocalyptic light (well, 'apocalyptic's a little strong, as it feels more natural than that; but you get a very intense light in some of these shots, and the way you handle its reflections make it seem otherworldly as well as natural). The sun seems out of shot, but its presence is everywhere. And that early morning light is mysterious and silver-tinged, with lots of textural detail. The shadows are severe (strong, cutting). And you've given us a very powerful counterpoint---because the tracks are on a diagonal to the main road---so we have a kind of meeting of two worlds here, with the city flowing on one grid, and the tracks on another. And we can see the distance---how the tracks carry on that straight line 'forever'. A really fine intersection of worlds, with really fine light and texture. I can see why you like to shoot early in the morning---besides the light which you handle expertly, you don't have to contend with tons of people and traffic; thus allowing you to get the real music of these patterns. A splendid shot.
