Description

Captured 1/18/14, early morning, far, far from home. Because of the higher contrast effects they present, I did 2 and 3 in a mono mode. BTW, these are the same tracks that I featured yesterday but after I had crossed the street and gotten onto rocky treacherous ground again. And, I drastically altered the POV on this one. Original on top, just for the record. And, please ZOOM, even if you don't have the time for such matters. Aloha.

I like all of them also, Harry; I would be hard-put to choose a favourite out of this bunch. As always with your variations themes, it helps that the original shot stands well on its own. Well done, my friend!

Well see, this explains why I said "apocalyptic light"---the original shot is filled with it, as the sun is all-dissolving back there! (I'm a big fan of the way you do this.) Lots of fine detail in the rocks and gravel. And the sense, at least on the left, that the city has ceased and light has taken it over. Beautifully bleak and mysterious,, in the back of number 1. Your 2 black and whites have the air of 30s and 40s shots, with high detail and strong contrast: 2 has real mystery; and your light on the ties make them seem luminous, almost painted. And 3 is much lighter, also feeling 30's and 40's ish, a Depression Era shot in detail and contrast; and it's apocalyptic in its all-devouring light. You really explored that here. The next one is fog-drenched and lens-moistened---like drops of water fell on the lens. The scene is being dissolved as we move towards the back of the image---it feels like the sun is about to devour the whole earth. (Nice pinkish tones too.) And the 5th is another of your blends for a final image, a kind of kaleidoscope conclusion, greened and oranged, and with an extra overlay of tracks (from left to right) like electricity flowing through the image. I understand why these blends are such good endings for some of your montages: They feel like every image has come together for the conclusion. But they stand in their own right as well. Fine work with the mystery of tracks, and you got that mystery above all. The things have life in them, in your track shots.
