Description
The hut was just two rooms. The smaller was for sleeping and the larger room for everything else. It had a high ceiling and a small flue in the roof to allow smoke to escape. As we listened to Siggi it was easy to imagine sitting around the central fire pit while the elders regaled the young ones with ancient tales of adventure.

nice tale and an intriguing shot, love the limited colours, the blue gives sense of the cold outside

Here I am reminded at Uromas times. Whole family... all in the room. Somehow homey.

Wondeful capture, the scene seems to be in a tale!

The atmosphere is palpable. It must have been a unique experience, Mark Those Chinese kids get everywhere, I often have up to a dozen in my upstairs kitchen! They seem to be able to afford anything, including this great holiday they shared with your party.

They were John and Jasmine, a Chinese couple from Singapore. He, an investment banker. She, a physical therapist who loved hearing stories about my stepmother who was one of the first physical therapists and treated soldiers during WWII.

A perfect place for tales, I imagine Siggi, smoking a long pipe, staring at the ceiling or fire, telling an old saga, while the wind howls outside and darkness starts in the far corners inside the hut, while the boys listen in awe, women weave and we sharpen our axes. Great capture, Mark

What a great picture! The light is just outstanding, and the contrast between John and Jasmine's interest level and that of the group on the right is amazing. How could you go to such a place and NOT be enthralled? Love this!

I like tara's observation about John and Jasmine (great names) compared to everyone else. It could be a real gathering of people who live there, to hear the local news before or after their day. (Beverly Hungry Wolf, a Native American, described, in a book about life of an Indian village, how the day began with a woman walking through the camp and crying out the news of the day. And how people would gather in a tent to share stories of their day mixed with those of their ancestors.) Your light highlights the sense of light inside dark structures, and the light of receiving lore and wisdom in the midst of their cold day's work. The reds of the background make a cold scene warm, and you've got light-blown yellows, which give an intensity to the scene. Really well done again.
