Description
OK, I wasn't planning this....I have some photos from the Gwynfynydd gold mines, Wales version of the Klondyke. I was on line looking for information, found what I wanted on a site that included GoogleEarth imagery. There were a number of footpaths around the cottage that we never investigated, so while I was looking at the area, I investigated around the cottage...Right, getting to the point, about 200 yards down the lane from the cottage we passed these items. There are six in total, you can just see the road up on the left of the top image. The lower image is the most complete 'thing'...there is a substantial stone wall behind them. The wall is just that, not the remnants of a building, a free standing wall. Now, I immediately thought I knew what they were....but on reflection it couldn't be 'that'. Karen's guess was something to do with hay bailing. While I was on the aforementioned site I noticed an old map overlay facility, I clicked and the answer is on a map dated 1898-1906....and guess what? I was right.......so what do YOU think ? This will be obvious though equally confusing for people with a certain background.....good luck !!

Maybe some kind of shaker to separate the gold. Just a guess. Fun post!!!

My guess would be some kind of shaking device to separate the gold. I imagine the wooden parts have rotted away.

Hmmm! maybe a bit misleading......this post replaced the intended gold mine one......this most definitely has NOTHING to do with gold mining OR farming.......

Some arcane structure intended to drive future generations crazy as they try to figure out its purpose?

Sorry to ruin your quiz so early, but I have the answer. In the old days, long before you or I, lived a group of people in this area that were addicted to swimming. They built beautiful Olympic sized swimming pools everywhere. Then tragically, due to the lack of sewerage systems in the area, the pools were eventually filled up with effluent. But the machines that winched up the pool covers still remain. Your welcome!
