Description

Yellow rose You bring the happy glow of the sun So full of healing warmth Your colors radiating the energy of Protection, good luck, and Joy. Rose Moods - Joy prose by Carol Cavalaris© I'm feeling joy right now because my mini doxie, Slinky, has been deathly ill with pneumonia since last Wednesday, and I almost lost her. It's been a horrendous week of rushing down the mountain in the middle of the night to the emergency hospital, and many vet visits. It's a miracle but Dr. Joe, our local vet, pulled her through and she's much better and going to make it. She's 13 and my sweet little soul-doggie who literally wraps her front legs around my neck and gives me hugs. I do love her and am so happy we will have another summer together. Credits: This is a new series I'm creating for Brigitte's Rose Collection called 'Rose Moods', featuring the colors and meanings of roses. This yellow rose is called Gold Cottage. Created in Photoshop CS6, using rose photos and painting techniques. Special thanks to Brigitte for the use of her lovely photos. Beautiful and so glad your little dog is going to be ok for right now. I just lost my furbaby the ninth of this month, just like losing a child.

Oh Carol.... I am so happy for you and your little Slinky. I know what you went through Honey, I truly do. So I also know the relief you have. I have three dogs. My oldest is now 17 years old. He has never been sick in his entire life. Only when he was nurtured was there trouble. When he came home poor thing he looked at me as if he said to me. Oh Mother why did you do this thing to me? I felt so bad, he was so pitiful. Now he has slowed down and is hardly walking and getting thin. I dread. This beautiful image of the yellow roses is so fitting for the joyous feeling you are having dear friend. Much Love to you and Slinky from me, Ajna, Giada and Bandit the old man..

Appreciate your very lovely comment, Toni. With three dogs and one 17, you certainly do understand. They are such a precious part of our lives, and we want them to be with us as long as possible. I've always had dogs and loved every one of them. I have two doxies now, Slinky and Flirt, sisters, both 13, and they can still get around okay but need help getting upstairs. Smooches and hugs to Ajna, Glada and and special smooch for Bandit.

Thanks so much, Ilona. And I have to agree, they give us unconditional love and so much joy. I am never ready to say goodbye to a beloved pet, but Slinky is especially precious to me so I'm very grateful to have more time with her.

Gorgeous use of saturated color! Love it! So glad your "puppy" is okay. There's nothing quite so special as the love of a dog. When my wife picked up our dog for the first time, she (the dog) put her front legs around my wife's neck, just as you mentioned your dog does. Love at first hug! ;) They do know how to melt our hearts! :)

Always amazing that, when a dog has been ill, so many people come forward with their feelings about their dogs. Wonderful loving comments above, as well as your comments back to them. I read this the day it went up, and I had responses and letters inside me from the minute I saw it; but life here was such that I couldn't get out the words; and just saying "I'm so relieved" seemed lame. I kept figuring the words would come, but they didn't; then I came to RR with the intention of posting and commenting, but I wasn't ready to do either. So I took down my post (a mediocre image anyway) and walked away---the words weren't ready yet. So forgive my lateness, it wasn't from lack of feeling, just lack of words. That said, getting help for Slinky had to be a tidal wave of ups and downs and tearing emotions, esp after everything else in the last few months. And I too know how dear dogs are...they're the most caring loyal animals imaginable. To watch a dog suffer is wrenching because they're all love and innocence, and they don't know what's happening to them, and we want to do everything we can for them, to get them better; and it takes everything out of us, and brings home how dear they are. Your Slinky-roses plunge us right into the center of everything. The yellows are riotous, big street carnivals of yellow. You've painted the inner portions (around the centers) with deep reds, setting off the yellows beautifully and giving real passion to those centers. And your petals in the shadows are filled with restive greens and pale yellows, a world that would shine but which is in rest while the sun favors other petals...And you have one of those back-sections---the section at top, left---where the plants seem to dissolve into pure energies, which go well beyond the frame. And then there are your vortexes throughout, and the other ebbs, flows and swirls that are so integral to your flower paintings. It's like you've told Slinky, "see? the whole universe is putting on a show for you!" And Slinky, being a dog and probably not too concerned with 'cosmic displays', is wagging her tail and just so happy you're sitting with her. Dogs don't have to look at cosmic displays because they carry them inside...the inside of a beloved dog is all sun, love and light. Maybe you painted Slinky's heart, here. I'm so glad she made it, and that your tumultuous trial ended in another year and hopefully more with your beloved dog. Beautiful and joyful work; I think Van Gogh would've been proud to say his painting has something in common with yours. I wish your dogs great health and joy! A beautiful celebration.

Oh, my, Mark, how you honor me, my art, and my beloved Slinky with your heart-felt and loving words. And how true that the inside of a dog is all 'sun, love, and light'. They bring us joy in the purest form possible. She is laying beside me right now, blissfully sleeping, blessing me with her presence and warmth. And if she could read your words, and feel your thoughts, she would give you the biggest hug ever.
