Description

In September 2008 Hurricane Ike went through Houston, Texas. We got the east side of the storm, got a lot of wind and water for 14 hours. Ike hit at 11:30 pm and the lights went out at 11:31 pm. They stayed off for over two weeks. I did have my camera, several 4 gig flash cards and 4 freshly charged batteries. Then I noticed I had company in the sweet light hours of the morning. I sat on the porch and got 20 to 30 foot closeups of some of them for several mornings. The lens was the Sigma 50-500mm zoom. In its early days, it was called the "Sigma Bigma" cause it was long and heavy. BUT, for 4/3 format it was the ONLY way to get 500 mm! All these "IKE" shots were with the Olympus E-3 and Sigma 50-500 zoom, hand held, no flash, natural light. Well, it was fun!
