Hi everybody,
My name is Dana Pommet and my wife’s name is Josephine. I was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, in 1942, and except for a tour in the Navy, lived there for most of my life. I retired to Delray Beach, Florida in December 2000. We love to travel and photography goes hand and hand with that. I went digital about 5 years ago and started posting November 22, 2008. I have met so many wonderful people on RR and that makes this whole process so much more interesting than just posting photos. Thanks for all the comments and keep them coming.
Update  January 2012: After hiding and denying my mild Dyslexia, for most of my professional life, and now fighting with its advancement – I want to thank you all for putting up with my poor typing skills and spelling problems. I know that my spell checker hates me and I now depend completely on audio books rather then actually reading printed books.  Life marches on!  Â

Squirrels are so nimble in their quest to find food, often they may dig holes in your lawn to bury their nuts...if you have a bowling green quality lawn this can be mighty problematic. Great capture. Sounds like a perfect place for them given the circumstances, may they have a carefree and relaxed remainder of their lives there and enjoy watching the wildlife such as this little fellow... always fun to watch. Best Regards.

It's great that you've found a good place for them to be looked after but still retain some independence. All my best to them! This squirrel looks very comfortable with working a bird feeder! Mine like to grab handfuls and then hang by their back feet while they eat it, quite entertaining to watch! Wonderful shot, Dana!

A lovely capture. Jo's parents have done so well to live in their own house well into their 90's. I hope they will be happy in their new place. xxx

Awesome capture of this little fellow, they can be so cute to see in action. Your grandparents in laws have done good to make it into their late 90's before having to live at a retirement home. Nice to have family working nearby to also check in on them. I am sure they will be fine. I know it is hard for all of you though, I went through it years ago with my Mom when she became immobile and I could not handle her myself anymore so I know how trying this can be, good to have other family close will take a lot of stress off your wife...:)))

It is amazing to see how determined squirrels can be when it comes to getting food.It sounds like you have lots to keep yourself busy with that house.

Glad to know your parents are doing well. (On my part, I sometimes (at least) wonder if, given current trends worldwide with respect to environmental and resource issues, we might not in fact be better off shifting to an ecovillage to stay...) Squirrels are fascinating little critters. Here in Singapore where I stay they're very afraid of people, though. Is it the same over at your side? :)

Sorry, my mistake, I mean your wife's parents...

In the US squirrels are skittish when around people especially children but when there is food involved they will come closer but always beyond reach of the person feeding them!.

good that they have children that care about their welfare. great squirrel capture. someone I know had paid a lot of money for a squirrel proof feeder. once when I was there working I seen a squirrel hanging out with one leg upside down reaching the bird feed. she was none to happy when I mentioned it after paying for "guaranteed" product

Superb shot, you caught him very well. Looks very similar to the squirrels here, only the color is different. I am amazed about the age of your in-laws. I wish that they will become 100 years old and more in the new environment.

So, the squirrel's are also looking after your folks as well as getting the odd birdie bonus ? LOL Kidding aside Dana, it sounds like a great place to see out the rest of their lives and having your daughter's nearby will make it seem like home for them both. ~Cheers~

Good shot of Mr. Squirrel taking advantage of a food resource! And 96 and 98! Bless your in-law' hearts! So glad you found a good place for them and that they seem to be settling in nicely. God bless and hope they do well there. It will be a bittersweet time for you and your wife. And a lot of work ahead. Take good care of yourselves. :)
