Description

Calopteryx splendens at Iford meadows nature reserve Bournemouth. There were many of them but they are still tricky to photo as they perch rather briefly. moving off to perch again just out of range. This is the centre of a Tizzy full macro zoom image.

I don't ever see this colour over here in OZ. Maybe we have them..........hmmm I don't know! Great shot anywayz. I have probably mentioned it before, but one day I let a dragonfly land on my arm.....................it then proceeded to bite a huge chunk out of my skin!

Superb. And I know that skittish behaviour, there was one in the park last week, notwithstanding my dying whispering abilities, it was very fleeting.

Nice shot - they are hard to capture. This one looks like it's about to do a handstand...

Isn't he the proud peacock. A splendid image. Looks like his hind legs are elevated so you probably caught him just before he dashed off.

Oh my, isn't that just perfect! Look at those tall legs! You must have gotten her just landing or just ready to flee - great capture!

I see these all over by the river, but I'm never close enough (and, as you say, they fly off quickly after a short stop!) Great capture!

I have seen quite a few but they don't sit still long enough to get a decent shot.
