Description

Captured 5/31/14, of a teen center pergola style structure, situated at the same local park where I have snapped countless other shots. I took similar shots of the same pergola and shadows back in December of 2013, which were taken near high noon. The sun is relatively low at that time of the year. I snapped this one at 8:15 am, and is most tame compared to the ones from last December, but I still like the effects, comparatively subtle as they are. Bye bye.

What a wonderful pattern thrown onto the surroundings, Harry; you have a great eye for finding these! Beautifully captured for our viewing pleasure, very well done indeed!!

There were 20th C paintings that sought these minimalist variations. The squares of light on the sidewalk are actually varied quite a bit, in size, in being cut off at corners, in angled edges, etc. Subtle abstract variations. And of course, you have varied diagonal shadows on the brick and wood. This fits with your other pergola shots as a study of yet another set of rectangular shapes and how they play-out on a surface. And instead of having the pergola in the center, you have it to one side, so the shot opens up from deep shadow on the right to bright light on the left. A fine study, Harry. I'd forgotten about these. It's grand to see them back here again.
