Description

while getting ready for camping, one of the main things that has to come along is water (for coffee of course) I noticed this Best by tag on the side and all I can do is just shake my head. Who knew that water has an expiration date?

I think that is to let you know how long before the chemicals in the container leak into the water at a toxic level enough to kill you, Mike! LOL! A fine observation and cool pic! Well done, Mike, and again, happy hunting!

Yep it's because of the plastic leaching over time.

Water stored does have an expiration, sort of, it's based on how long it will take bacteria to get into the container.

oh, and that's the shortest expiration I've ever seen, might be regulations now because plastic is used and chemicals could pass from container to water.... guess it's a dual answer. Been a long time since I delt with water purification.

That would make a great apocalyptic scene you make it to the Bunker safely only to find the water has Expired

The problem is both in the water and in the container. The purified water is not sterile, and after a short time it becomes a broth culture of bacteria. Also the stabilizers of the plastic after a little time, especially if the container is left in the sun, may partly contaminate the water. Expiration dates are mandatory in accordance with the rules of the WTO, so we have that in Italy too.

I have read that it is from gov regulations with all food stuff needing an expiration date. of course if water expired then we would all be in trouble. I like the comment about the plastic container poisoning the water, which is very true if you freeze or heat any liquid for drinking in a plastic container. think about how people in the old west drank water from small puddles, or any where they could find it

It's probably because of the estrogen that is likely leaching in from the plastic. They won't admit to it but they want to cover their asses anyways.

Of course bottled water has an expiration date. If you keep it too long it turns into beer! What? You didn't know that?

Well, Mike, here even wine must have this tag. Can you imagine that? In my country, and exquisite old wine is only an expired wine. LOL

Like in the UK, the law says you have to put a sale by date on everything. I passed mine years ago !!

It is a sad fact of life, that many or the harmful chemicals used in the manufacture of containers are guarded in secrecy! I'm VERY glad to throw the plastic bottles in which I buy my water the minute it's empty! Nice capture and discussion topic Mike!
