Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

First time for me also, cool looking.

Beautiful little pearls; given the number of snails in my garden I'm surprised I haven't found any of these!

I never would have known what they were!

There's no getting around them up here. Our climate is perfect for snails and slugs! I've never seen their eggs, though. So interesting!

I'm with the rest in that I have never seen these before. A superb image but now I will have to throw out my pearl onions.

Great detailed shot....yes snails and slugs can be pests... on a dry night with a torch and bucket I often caught the offenders of specific flowers be them snails or earwigs which do more damage to flowers than some may think.... they can strip small plants, quite common with those who use weed retardant measures like ground sheets with stones on the top.

With the amount of moisture we've had, and the sheer number of snails and slugs absolutely loving it, I'm surprised I haven't see the aftermath of amorous encounters of a gastropodial sort. Such a shame. I love these little egg-necklaces, especially when the light hits them just right, as it's doing here. It is a shame that they can't distinguish a garden from a salad, and perhaps they're the ones who gave us the term "garden salad". I wonder what species this is. I happen to like slugs/snails, but I can't really say that Chicago has such a huge variety of them. A few, yes...but unfortunately, I'm not in a region of the city that's gastropod friendly, despite the sheer number of abandoned lots that could surely use a snail-trim. This is gorgeous. Those eggs are such a pretty color.

An excellent macro my friend - I would be crushing they every day!

Very wonderful shot.

Cool and yet disturbing capture I agree that it is total war against them if you wish to have a nice garden
