Description

Rubbish was an adoption from a ferret shelter. We intended to adopt his brother Licky, but we were informed that they'd bonded strongly. Having been through this before we took both. There was no not taking the goofy-looking big white guy with red eyes who was obviously a clown. Licky was just licky-ness all over Mrs. W's face -- obviously they were bonding too. Anyhow, their names were Ares and Socrates. No way. Those names were not going to fly so Ares' "Bubba-like" behavior got him named Bubbish which elided into Rubbish. Something our vet never tired of joking about. Well the big guy got insulinoma along with his brother but Rub-a-Dub just did not respond well and started to waste away. When we saw the skin breakdown from getting pee on himself, we knew the end was approaching. August 23rd came all too soon. I guess this is somewhere between 30 and 40 of these guys we've lost in the past 20 years. I can tell you it never gets easier. Rubbish was a quiet, unobtrusive character and could be overlooked very easily. Finding a picture of him was not easy. In this case he's checking out Aliquot who was dragged under the bed by Umberto on A's first day with his new home. Have a nice weekend; thanks for viewing.
