juvenile Great Blue Heron A juvenile Great Blue Heron settling in for the night. They average 46 inches (117 cm) tall with a wing span of 72 inches (183 cm). Interesting these. I always think we can see back to prehistoric times when we look at the faces of these birds, with that oddly sinister smile. Nice shot.
