If you find yourself in Baltimore and want to do more than eat crabs, drink beer, and ball games, there are some interesting museums in town. The Walters Art Museum is, IMO, the crown jewel of the bunch. We just took in the small, but impressive, music in manuscripts showing which is closing this weekend. However, there is always something new coming and going. This "medallion" is a tile-like thing from the permanent collection and Mrs. W liked the sharp profile of the lady depicted. (The tile is 15/16th C. Italian.) The PW includes some 3D embossing and "enhancement" of the cracks in the glaze by applying the elephant skin texture with brown underlay... . Shooting objects behind glass is not easy as I'm sure most will agree. This is available light from a location in the statuary court.
