Description

Dry Falls Washington State If you ZOOM, you'll see that all those bands of color are different types of grasses along a drying lakebed. It's a fascinating place. Here's the Wiki: Dry Falls We arrived in Missoula, Montana late this afternoon. We're happily ensconced in our hotel room, looking forward to a good night's sleep!

Oooh...first of all, I have to say that I absolutely adore this image! It's so exciting and otherworldly...very otherworldly. It's so easy to lose yourself in all of the contours and swoops and sweeps and swerves, and swirlies in it. I kinda got lost in the cracks in the drying bits of the lake-bed: there are stories in there somewhere! And then there are the colors! Yeah...this is an astoundingly good piece of photo-shootin'...and to make it even better, you used the word "ensconced" in your comment! Such a good word, isn't it? This is amazing stuff and it's making a trip into my favorites.

Oh how I love this time of year. The trees turn to many colors, and if you are patient you can see flocks of snow-birds migrating along the highways. Lovely capture of the lake.

An interesting and colorful look at the way nature works, Tara! Bands and layers of color.

I wonder what the black plants are, that make such a defined edge to this most exciting design. It is a very satisfying abstract which I need to look at again and maybe do a little painting from. The link was fascinating to read, too.

What a fascinating read; it boggles the mind to imagine the scope of the changes the area has been through. Wonderful capture, as Ronnie says much like a satellite view! Great eye...

Well, I never! I'd never have thought of making this sort of thing into an abstract. Until now:) Great job. Fascinating place.

Love that curved, snaky line--hard to believe summer's gone and you're on your way to fun and sun!!

I clicked and was pleased to read that for once it seems (as far as the site mentions) man hadn't screwed things up for nature, though it may have done in some way, he normally does.. It DOES make for a cool shot though, well posted. Rob
