Description
Captured 10/18/14, at our city's 31st Annual Halloween Parade, attended by thousands.
With my most favorite Halloween holiday of the year fast approaching, I decided to attend the parade and get tons of pics of the many involved: the strange characters, city notables, local business advertisers, politicians, clowns, dancers, monsters, vendors, marching bands, horseback riders, etc., who performed and drove, walked, marched and horsebacked by for us residents. The event seemed to unfold in slow motion, lasting two and a half hours, leaving me physically stiff and aching as a result of bending, dodging, kneeling and standing. I'm really getting too old for this stuff. But I did get 638 fotos out of the effort. Not as much fun or colorful as the Renaissance Faire, but okay if you're not particular.
Anyway, I really lucked out with this tattooed marvel standing next to me, enabling me to take full advantage of the situation by snapping pics of him in my own patented ninja way, with no one knowing the difference. Tons of bizarre stuff on his head, neck and ears, and who knows what else illustrates the rest of his bod. Since it was rather dark at the time I took the shots, I increased the contrast for better viewing.
ZOOM capable.
Have a nice day.

All I can think when I see someone like this is what on earth will they look like when they get old...it's not my particular cup of tea, I've just never liked body art much. I can't imagine how long it took to get that much ink in his skin! Let's hope they don't discover that tattoo ink causes cancer. Spectacular captures, especially given your ninja mode, Harry; he had no idea he was the subject? Wow, you're good!

well Harry, I'm back a month ago---in the 'archives', lol---because I've neglected your many street shots recently, and it was time I caught up with them again. Can't think of a better place to start than this eye popper: The detail is wonderful, and your contrast (which you said you used) was applied with real aplomb because the shots look wholly natural. Sequence-wise, you gave us a full profile, then a 1/4 profile, and then a back shot, so it moves sequentially. But the detail is the thing, and it's striking: "Evil," "Hate," "City of/Angels" (on two ears---with a tiny state of california tattooed under one ear!), what looks like Aztec deities, and a lot of other wild stuff. Dave says, "Very brave of you to photograph this gentleman, Harry"---ditto! I wouldn't wanna mess with this dude in a dark alley. The background on 1 and 3 sets him off perfectly, and the other guy in 2 seems to be a soul brother if not a real one (they look alike, a little). And that last shot is worth the whole montage. Really vivid street shooting, and a very keen eye, not to mention guts. I realize you stood next to him, but still street shooting can be a risk if the person doesn't like it; and if THIS guy didn't like it, I might wanna get the hell outa Dodge...Love your street shots, and this one is a gem.
