Description
This stunning Pagoda was built in Battersea Park in 1985 and was a gift to London from the Japanese Buddhist Order, Nipponzan Myohoji to commemorate the anniversary of Hiroshima. At the base of the pagoda are four large gilt-bronze statues which dipicts the most significant stages in Prince Siddhartha's life (the Supreme Buddha) which were birth, contemplation, enlightenment, and death (shown in on the far right and far left of panos).
The two central panos were taken roughly at the same place in the month of Febuary and October - both separated by 4 years. I thought it would make for an interesting contrast between the seasons as well as time.
The Peace pagoda is certainly the main highlight for me in Battersea Park and certainly spreads a vibe of tranquility into the park. Feel free to check out a previous pano of this place already posted.
Many thanks for viewing!!!
