Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Never heard ping pong called wiff waff before. It makes sense though, it sounds like the noise it makes when you swing the paddle.

I used to love watching Table tennis on the TV, but that awful rubber shoe squeak on the polished floor used to jar me, so I'd watch with the volume down.

Well done - interesting postwork and composition.

Great shot! It looks so bleak, yet bright with the prom disappearing into the sunlight! I played table tennis in the local league for years when I was a lad, but had never come across the term wiff-waff!

Ping pong, wiff waff - both sound like a bad smell but what lovely surroundings.

The wind off the ocean must be a huge problem though?

I was great at table tennis in my youth..... had I pursued it I might have been able to make a career out of it until music and art took control.

Nice post work. It gives the image a sort of sci-fi look. I had a friend named Al Fresco once. Funny guy, I could never get him to come indoors to eat.

Looks like a they'd make a great place to stand for a higher viewpoint.

When I saw your title, I thought it was a play on riff-raff. We sometimes call this game gnip gnop (pronounced ganip-ganop), which is simply ping pong spelled backwards. So many odd names for such a simple game!

Superb capture!

Like tara, I too thought it was a play on "riff raff"---like "riff raff" said by a little kid. (And gnip gnop? Someone actually calls this 'gnip gnop'??? How about ka-ching, ka-chung...) I read a little on the name. I didn't know there was that much passion about it, lol! Well, with the image, you've turned the tables into these aluminum sheen-like surfaces, almost like metal that'd been rained on. And the sea has been whited out by intense sun. Even the blue walls have a certain metallic look. It's got big sweeps of light, and the composition is very broad. I really like the shot and your treatment. It has a vastness in your treatment---not something one usually associates with table tennis. Fine work, Andrea. As always, with your postwork.
