Description
Atolls.
(As opposed to b-tolls)
(a dumb joke...)
Just another made-up "map".
Couple of notes:
I give these names, but as some of you say, you see other things in them---and that's fine!
I'm just 'inspired' by geological maps, but you can see whatever you wish.
(To me, these are atolls in a distant ocean...)
Also, some of you say you like my more limited palettes...I'm glad again. I started as an artist doing architectural drawing, then pen, ink, pencil, ad layout, lettering, etc. So when I painted, I used lots of colors as balance.
But I've done simpler-hued pieces too. This is an example...
Thanks so much for your wonderful visits!
Have a fine day
Mark
(It's huge...so again, much fuller zoomed/scrolled)

How lovely, as if a layer of spirit-earth has been sliced, for us to view and explore. I'm very comfortable and happy inside the cool purples, violets, burgundies, lavenders, and pinks, as the colors are soothing and richly enveloping. A place to imagine and dream. And if I want more excitement I only have to zoom in for an amazing experience of intricate detail. So beautiful, Mark.

I love most colours in all kinds of incarnations and combinations...you haven't done anything yet (that I've seen anyway) that "offends" my colour sensibilities. (Maybe I don't have any sensibilities? That's pretty likely.) Anyway, I LOVE this; I see all kinds of wonderful water movement in it, waves and eddies and swells, and reflections of sky. It's absolutely lovely! On another note, I just finished "The Bone Clocks" by David Mitchell, who wrote "Cloud Atlas", and found it haunting and thought-provoking. Highly recommended...

Delicious colours and it is indeed like a slice of some mineral. Sort of edible amethyst maybe? I must sort out my synethesia !

Nice piece Mark!!

OH Yes, my kind of colors. Ok, I love so many colors, but I have always adored these scales. So these atolls must have a wonderful sunrise shining on them, getting these wonderful colors. Love the curves and the grains you have added to this piece. Wonderfully done again, dear Mark :)))

Marvelous creation Mark... It's really fantastic !!!

Mark, you certainly have been on a roll as of late by producing so many wonderful images. This one instantly caught my eye as my favorite colors are prominent throughout. The more I focus on this image what I see is almost like a spirit of something very old, yet still filled with great power. (Hey, you said we all see something different when we view art) ;)

This one is so starkly different when zoomed. The unzoomed version looks very smooth & not terribly interesting. When zoomed, all sorts of textures, patterns & tonal ranges are revealed. To me, it looks like an electron microscope magnification of cellular activity & I can easily imagine it animated & pulsing with living energy...

A continuous undulating mass of blue and magenta atolls to pleasure the eyes in this cartographer's delight, Mark, plus cool minor textures. These could also be some sort of arcane life forms viewed through an electron microscope. Ask Denise about that genre. Doing this beauty must have taken considerable effort. In fact, creating any form of atoll must really take it's toll (another one of my insufferable puns).

Hmmmmm ... maybe a sea otter and a crocodile, but there's no doubt it's about water. The smoothness of the lines, the curves, speak to me of flow and buoyancy. (Sorry ... I saw the critters and now I can't UNsee them!)

Oh yes, this is all about water, but the first thing I saw was that creature. I know it's not Nessie, but it sure wants to be front and center!! Another of your great images; and I love it!!

nteresting realization, in fact it looks a geological sediment, subjected to large forces and changes. The color reminds me of a rocky section view under a UV light. A delicate and interesting analysis of an aspect of life on this planet
