Description
Monument Valley is literally in the middle of nowhere. The nearest town is Kayenta, Arizona, a town of 5,200. If you are going to stay at Monument Valley there are only a few options. You can stay at a campground, at Tipi Village as I did, or one of two hotels nearby. The View is a hotel/restaurant/museum complex built and run by the Diné . The place sits overlooking the valley, hence the name.
In the image below you can see the East and West Mitten Buttes, named for their resemblance to hands, and Merrick Butte. Merrick Butte is named for John Merrick, one of two prospectors who discovered silver inside the park. Unfortunately, a band of Utes killed the two. For those of you from New Jersey, Utes are not young people. They are a Native American tribe.

Very nice capture. Unfortunately there are some ugly sensor dots at the upper right part. Some time ago i had this problem too and i can tell you that it is not very difficult to clean the sensor.

Fixed it. Thanks for the heads up.

I know just how Andrea feels. The whole time we were in the red rock area I had a geology book and several guides out and open. It's amazing!
