Description

Captured back on 11/28/08, mid day, at/from the back parking lot of a local strip mall. For documentation purposes only, I had joined hundreds of Santa Clausphiles gathered early on that cool day to observe the landing, and then welcome and swarm around Mr and Mrs Claus as they made their way to a table of some sort, in order to sign autographs and laugh it up a bit. It was so packed-in crowded around the couple that I never even got close for further photos. The helicopter to transport Ol Saint Nick was supplied by a local TV station. I don't know if it was under the auspices of Diet Pepsi or not. Who said Christmas isn't commercialized? Much to my chagrin, the last photo, a long distance pic depicting the Clauses being hastily escorted to their seats by one of the copter crew, came out blurry, as if it had been snapped through a button hole. Ergo, I really blew it, the shot of a lifetime, on that momentous event. Despite that, if this collage doesn't ignite your holiday spirit, then nothing will. Have a nice day.

LOL! That's not like any reindeer I've ever seen...what an event to witness, that's for sure. The blurriness of that last shot look like a paparazzi shot of Santa and the Mrs. being arrested and hauled off to the precinct! Excellent presentation, Harry!

A delightful set of captures, and a moment I've never seen. The second shot, with the decorations, almost seems like it cold come from one of your Mixed Medium pieces! The whole concept of a helicopter with those (either) marine or blowing-cloud decorations, with a huuuuuge "Diet Pepsi" logo, in contrasting reds and whites: It's almost something you could've done in your Mixed Medium art! (Maybe you missed your calling---decorating helicopters.) It's wild to watch this progress until we suddenly see it's Santa and Mrs. Santa---who we don't see enough of. And you know what? That final pic, because Santa's looking down? It looks like he's being taken in custody! Like "ok, S.C., your stint is UP!" Yeah it's blurry, but it's got a newsy feel to it, taken on the spot/in the moment, and it's an awful lot of fun. This is one of the most unusual Christmas uploads I've ever seen, and I love that you posted it! (I also love the copter pilot's shoes---right out of the North Pole: modern running shoes!) A great quirky upload!
