Description

Captured 12/25/14, early in the morning, just a little north of the local I-5 freeway widening project, not far from home. Top shot shows an eastward view of the Superior TeleStacker conveyor and a mountain of rocks or something, being used in the freeway construction. The bottom two pics display the conveyor and rock mountain after I walked around to the other side looking south. Sorry about the Caterpillar equipment blocking out the conveyor in the bottom capture. All this stuff was situated behind a locked gate (of course no one was working on Christmas Day), depriving me of the opportunity of getting clean unobstructed photos. Incidentally, just for the grins, I checked on the cost of one of these TeleStacker conveyors, and found a used model going for a cool $243,750. And, no, I have no intention of buying one. Have a nice day.

What a really cool and fascinating set of shots; the first one, with the light just peeking behind the hill, is really stunning. I love how the line of the conveyer crane parallels the line of the hill. The others give us a good view of some of that earthmoving equipment and the crane. Great stuff, the detail is amazing!

Lol, just a cool $243,750??? And 'used'??? S___t, I could get one of those, used, for $175,000 easy! I got a couple in the garage---dents and all---that I got for $160,000 at a garage sale. Well my stupid comedy bits aren't helping here, so I'll leave them...a terrific trio: That top shot could be a pic of the week, by itself. I love the detail in that mound (yeah, what is that stuff? the stuff of which pavement is made?), and the crane's in perfect line-up with the line of the hill. The light behind it sets it all off, like the gods are about to make an appearance. Minimalist beauty. And the 2d shot is also unusual counterpoint, with that hill and crane again, doing dialogue. (The hill's now a browner color because you've switched pov's). In the 3d shot, yes that Caterpillar monster does block out the crane, but it becomes part of the shot, making a cacophonous dialogue between the two. After all, these sites are all about cacophonous dialogue, they really create chaotic dialogue on a huge scale. And you got the top of that fence, which adds the ultimate "party" element to the shot, I mean in the sense of a giddy collision of forms. And the ironical capture of captures,: "NO DUMPING"---a few feet from one of the great dumps of all time: that big mound of whatever-it-is. (Even the word "Superior" looks great in this context.) Love this trio, and the choatic dialogue of the last; and that first shot is a minimalist beauty. Love 'm. This being Christmas morning, I think it would've been great if one of the apostles were running the crane and shouted, "hey buddy, can ya give me a hand???"
