Description

I had to get a move on with the last few pics for 2014 challenges on Flickr, so here is a variant of one of them. I have an expensive pair of shears for fabric, the ones with the pink ribbon, which cost about £60. The biggest pair here is for paper and cost only £2.50. The orange handles Fiskars are also special and for thread and fabric. The kitchen scissors (How ever did we manage without those?!) are third from the right and the little ones from I know not where, but NOT for paper! Also in this photo on the far right are some Hairdresser's scissors I inherited which I believe cost my sister-in law about £90. So you may understand why I can get extremely peeved when someone tries to use any of these without asking first. A few lodgers have nearly sustained rather personal injury for this reason!

Awesome arrangement and outstanding information Andrea. LOL== Mother use to say--- "Those are not for paper young lady" and now I know why. She was a excellent seamstress and her sewing scissors were suppose to be protected at all times. LOL ==Kitchen scissors ? But do not use on Paper ! Hehehehe..

Impressive, good shears can be atrociously expensive, when I was in the fur trade making stols, coats, muffs (hehe) etc, we had shears that cost big dollar, even way back in the seventies. I have a pare of kitchen scissors that I watch like a hawk when the kids are about. Arrrrrg not them for cutting out :)

A super array. I have a pair of thinning scissors for the girls & a small pair also for them, they were costly.

We had a good set of scissors until I started using them for wire cutters and tin snips.

Ninety dollars for a pair of shears?! Now I know why my mother wouldn't let me use her's for cutting paper. Your arrangement is certainly artistic. For some reason it makes me thing of an Elizabethan ruff

Do you know why I married Bill? Because when I met him, he already knew not to touch my sewing scissors. I can leave them anywhere and know they'll be safe. He came pre-trained. It makes me wish I'd known Carol (his first wife), but he didn't show up here on RR until more than a year after she died. I bless her every day!

Lol at Tara!! I keep my sewing scissors in a very special place even though I'm the only one living here. That keeps me from even being tempted to use them for anything else. I buy cheapos anywhere and everywhere and they get used to anything and everything!! Great shot, what a cool idea!!

I have severel of the first from right, as I am the one who cut the son´s hair and hubby´s Hair/beard. When they cant cut hair anymore, I use them for other things. Number two I have one of, OF the fourth I think I have around 6-7, Then I have two new for paper and I have one for fish. A genius invention huh? :-D

I have several for art purposes, but none of the others. I do appreciate the different uses though. (I have some for cutting metal, and you definitely don't want to use those for anything else.) It's a bright fanned-out pic, and you've got them organized from shortest to longest to shortest. The color scheme is nice too. And your postworked background is almost like electrically activated metal. A really nice capture of these indispensables. And I like that you put paper shreds or strings (or whatever they are) by the handle of the leftmost pair...

What strikes me is how clean they all are. With my parents living here NOTHING is clean anymore, especially the kitchen scissors. Luckily they come apart easily and go into the dishwasher to be cleaned. The rest of them, well...luckily they disappear easily. No matter how many I buy you can never find them. My paper scissors live on my desk in my pen mug, my sewing scissors live in my sewing machine case, and the rest are left for God to protect. Wonderful spread of cutting strength, Andrea!

You all well tooled up to cut things up! A clever arrangement with a few embellishments and a neat effect on the paper background! Next your Knives and Cleavers collection?
