My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

That's a cool steeple, very rustic looking. And karosene cans, how cool is that. Excellent capture.

Very cool description and marvelous capture

Waste not, want not. Great shot. I really like the patina on the old wood. As for Oregon, they had the Heisman and the offense but Ohio wanted it more.

Moderation in all things except ball games, eh?

Wow, you were about an hour away from me and you didn't call??? JK! I love to see others enjoying what I call my back yard. Bodie is a very special place and I really love to see the photos that express their unique view of each photographer's eye for the beauty that is Bodie and the Eastern Sierras of California! Let me know if you ever come through again!

Excellent POV!

The wood and metal have such a wonderful, warm look - especially when contrasted with that blue sky. This reminds me of a video I saw on YouTube where a guy made a really cool bench out of forklift pallet planks - I can't help thinking what a lovely table those boards would make. A lovely photo, Tara!

I do love the simple and well-done construction here; excellent shot!

There are a LOTTA jokes hiding out in this upload. bentchik wrote "you were about an hour from me and you didn't call???" Next time you're in Seattle, I'll write, "you were about 2200 miles from me and you didn't call????" It'd be even better if you were in Japan...Rod talks of "forklift pallet planks"---there's comedy right there. (I don't have a CLUE what forklift pallet planks are, but you gotta admit, that's a f--king funny term.) Mark says Oregon had the Heisman and the offense, but "Ohio wanted it more". I wanted to say, "damn RIGHT they did!" See, I don't know a fig about these things, I'm outa the loop, and if you're not familiar with this stuff, that sentence is a big "whaaaaa????" And of course, your comments on the games. I'll spare you bad jokes on the games, because I know you and Bill were into them; but trust me, there are jokes there, lots of 'm. (I don't even know if this was football or basketball. Rugby? Cribbage?) And finally, "kerosine cans"---on a church steeple. This upload's dying for a comedian. (Unfortunately it's not getting one, with me...) But onto the shot: You caught all the rustic, tightly constructed yet loose, rugged and beautiful feel of this steeple. The reds, the deep stained browns, the sooted reds of the metal portions, the stark contrast of that flat blue sky (perhaps worked by you, to that beautiful deep tone), and the composition are all so well suited to the subject, which is all about the steeple and its big V support. The crop is everything. Did you know that 'steeple' comes from the same root as 'steep'? Are you yawning, or maybe you knew that when you were 6. Well my POINT is, thank you, that steeples are STEEP. And this is steep and lonely, as steeples should be. But the detail makes it all oddly warm and mysterious. Fine work with hue, texture, line and contrast. It probably hasn't gotten a better portrait than this. Beautiful work, Tara. (And btw, don't kill me, but "Cardale Jones and his amazing three game series" sounds like a bad magic act! I'm sorry---I know you're really into these games, but you gotta admit, to an outsider that's a helluva sentence. I'm gonna let this go, but if you're gonna make references like this---ie, to people who don't have a clue what game you're talking about or who the players are and why such-and-such a victory's important---you gotta provide videos, background articles, links and interviews. At least the interviews.) Anyway, I love this shot. A genuine Tara vision.

This is one of those photos that grabs me in terms of color and shape! I especially love the colors in this: you do warm tones so perfectly and there are so many nice variations and subtle shifts and shimmers. And then there's that steeple shape, it anchors the whole image and gives it that sense of upwardness...in the roofline, in those cutouts, in the steeple-itself. And then there's that dramatic, blueness. Yeah, this is a gorgeous shot. It is enough good. And because it's been cloudy in the Chicago area so much, just seeing that much blue sky makes me pine for summer, but I heard today that it's getting warmer. The maintenance guy for our building is Czech, and so I heard the promise of impending warm weather with a Czech accent! That has absolutely nothing to do with this image, and yet, there it is. Oh, and just so you know, I really like this image!

Now that's recycling! Excellent find here. Rob

Really amazing that recycling.

Fantastic that they made this from old stuff, and what a different colors are to see on this triumphant-looking steeple.
