Description

*Oh, thou! in Hellas deemed of heavenly birth, Muse! formed or fabled at the Minstrel's will! Since shamed full oft by later lyres on earth, Mine dares nor call thee from thy sacred Hill: Yet there I've wandered by thy vaunted rill.* (G.G.Byron, from "Childe Harold") ----------------------------------------------- This time (usual mixed technique of mine.. with adding of the slightly filtering in Painter to equalize the structure) I tried to focuse on the water.. (In Flowers and Sky the Sky was bad, so in Empty Beach focuse on that, but left the water not that carefully made.. so this time I have decided especially to work on that... Next time? Probably against sky since this one... :P). It took me.. well, you see from the sketch, almost two months to colour this, and again is just a memory of my holidays, this year deeply linked with will of painting after many many years. I think it's merit of this community, so in a way, this is an homage to all here who have given me great vibes so far :) Enjoy and thanx :) -------------------------------------------------

You are really good with colours... But your sketch leaves me much more freedom for my imagination for the scenery.

This is fantastic Meli! It has such an amazing timeless quality to it... like it could have been from last week, or 1968 even. So well done, I wish I was there ;P

Sun has brought out the inhabitants! The waves rise and fall to give life to the water as they run.

Excellent work Meli. Great work on the color, depth design and detail. The overall composition is masterfully done. The last sketch I did took me a month to complete, so I know how long it can take to really work on something to get it right. Jason would tell you that working on an image 3 to 6 months is not unusual. So, I applaud you attention to detail and the time you were willing to put into it.

In my opinion it is a quite good pice. the only real disturbing thing here are the trees, they could need some more depth. the water is excellent. I wish I could have such a fun painting such (and now comes something that is only my personal opinion and no way an objective valuation of this at least technicaly very good pice) a boring picture. I would need it for my classes at the academy. have to paint some landscapes and so on - but I fail terribly. so I am really kind of envy :) you are very skilled, maybe you will try to paint something more dramatic? something with an impact on the viewer, something that let the audience tremble and weaken them up? this one is quite nice, but nothing anyone would remember for a long time (in my opinion)- and this is definitly not the lack of skill :)

Very peaceful painting thank you for posting it, I love it.I guess it can get boring if you can't get yourself to go into it in your imagination. A painting is done with the artists heart and soul, if the spectator sees this he will feel it.

Don't worry anyone for ElPollo's words: I respect a lot what he thinks, and I am actually amazed he has commented THIS kind of picture. I think uneasily I will get into drama painting. to me.. painting landscapes is like a joga session: I feel empathic with the highest beauty we are in.. the one of Nature. that's why to me it's not boring, but essential. I know what works for me cannot work for everyone. but the fact anyway all here appreciated anyway something in this paint, whatever that was, technique or feeling or celebratory feeling, makes me feel good :). But I promise ElPollo that if eventually I'll ever paint drama.. I'll dedicate that to him ;)I deep appreciate your honesty man:)

To me this is a strange one, with a lot of depth. It's the blurring on selective areas, particularly that of the sky. It's as though all the normal rules of physics that govern "depth of field" have been ignored, and the picture is all the more surreal for this. For me this is what adds interest to such a tranquil boring subject. This kind of Impressionism is dreamlike: when I am in a lucid dream and then lose control and wake up, this is what happens. The picture fragments, fades to dark, then my real eyes open. I know I'm almost certainly picking up on something you won't have intended, but this is just what makes people's differing interpretations so fascinating :)
