I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

Brilliant shot my friend. I love those yellow eyes, and that blue iridescent sheen. Great focus on the eye.

I think these birds are beautiful, even if they are regarded as pests here. Fantastic crisp shot of this keen-eyed flier!

Starlings and grackles are such fun birds! They always look so serious: a bit like that cranky bald eagle on The Muppet Show...well, he wasn't cranky so much as he was just over it all. Grackles and starlings are kind of the same way: not cranky, they've just seen it all before and are not entirely amused...except for when they are. They're such smart birds too! You can just see that this particular person is plotting something, and it probably involves theft, theft, or theft...and maybe a little bit of brazen appropriation. What I really like are the complimentary colors; the gold eye and the blue/black feathers are a really amazing compliment, and the light is fantastic. It's a marvelous closeup too. I can almost count the feathers (I've been at work and so I'm too tired to count...but I could almost count.) Nice pose too...birds really know how to pose! You captured this beauty in the most perfect way.

What a amazing good focus, as sharp too (where it has to be sharp, dear one ;-)). The colours are fabulous; and 'wow', what a glow and shine, Carin.
