Description
Traffic? What traffic? Have a truck, or two, or three.
Captured on 4/21/09, early morning, overlooking the Interstate 5 freeway looking east.
Actually, the traffic got much heavier as the morning progressed.
Drive carefully.

Soul-killing when you face this every day; my dad did the drive from Long Beach to Los Angeles morning and night every day for decades, an hour each way in this stuff. Superb capture of the faceless mass of commuters, Harry; good thing you're above it and not in it!

Familiar..but is there a slow lane for heavy items? Too familiar a scene but worth capturing for the future when things may be improved/worse
goodoleboy
You could consider the far right lane as the slow lane. Heaven help you and all those behind you if or when your vehicle breaks down.

Hard to understand that we can still breath, while billions of cars / trucks / buses are constantly polluting this planet... Very sad. Peter

Looks as if they are going to be there for a while, Harry.

It looks like a German freeway, here are constantly any traffic jams, mostly due to accidents. Superb shot and and documentation.

Wow you got some heavy-duty comments here, lol. On the horrors of heavy traffic all over the world. (Wheeze wheeze.) And yes, this sight is common the world over. The cars and trucks may look a little different, but the basic plan is the same...I like the early light and how it throws all these vehicles into relief, and creates such deep shadows which cut across the road. And the coagulation of a few big trucks in one lane, and and the rest are mostly cars. You got the light, the onslaught, the shadows, and an eerie feeling that everyone is standing still---no blurs here (fast shudder---or else it's so crammed that the cars are moving slowly to begin with). I have shots over our "Lake Shore Drive" and you'd swear you were looking at the same sight. Very well done, that early light really cuts up the sight into swath after swath. A real rhythm to it too...
