Description

Have an orchid. Captured back on 10/18/09, at the beautiful Orchid Show, held at the beautiful Huntington Botanical Center and Conservatory in beautiful San Marino, California. I try to post orchids at every century mark, but, in my zeal, I sped past #3200 and 3300 without even noticing it. Senility at its best. Hopefully, this one will atone for those past oversights. A ZOOM would be cool. Allaismalardik.

Harry, I'm sorry I didn't get to this when it went up, I got a sudden infection that had to be taken care of, and I've been laid up for a couple of days. (It was on my leg, and there was question as to what else it could be. You've been through stuff like this, you know all too well what it entails.) But I want to send you my huge congratulations on another milestone in this exceptional gallery. I do remember your 100-upload orchids, and I do remember something about you missing them on the last 1 or 2---it's not hard to forget numbers like this when you're shooting, postworking and uploading shots 3 times a day; esp when you're also dealing with body problems that make it so hard on every front. But you made up for it with this. This is an orchid convention: big and beautiful, swimming with pinks and reds, and splotches of rich saturated yellows, with spots like a leopard, and all spilling on an angle (upper right to lower left) like a rush of orchid waters. I also like the black on the lower right corner, and the green-in-black in the opposite corner---nice balance. And somehow, above it all, you managed to capture that one orchid facing us,directly, in dead center: Fine work on all fronts, that ain't easy. Like they posed for you. Another beautiful orchid upload, and I wish you many, many more along with everything else you do, for a long time to come. Despite my tardiness, I saw it within an hour of its posting; I was just sitting here with a bandage and a fever, and my comment would've been mush. I'll return to regular comments in your gallery soon, but congratulations! A beautiful upload for 3400.
