Description

(---which is what this looked like to me!) Another lake shot, inundated by snow. I was standing on a chunk of ice, freezing and slipping like crazy. So the top was a little "cut off"... Thanks for coming by, as always Mark (Again, it's really big, so better zoomed and scrolled)

curds and whey, curds and whey...I love the blue cast to the snow; it looks almost satiny. I know I keep saying how much I love snow, but I REALLY LOVE SNOW! So amazingly lovely!!!

You're a better man than me, Gunga Din, to have ventured out into that deceptive bit of icy marshmallow flummery in order to record this remarkable scene for posterity, Mark. I would have slid, skidded and stumbled into what appears to be a long bottomless ditch, never to be found until late spring. Nice composition, contrast and texture in this most cool capture, young man.

Yep...really cold marshmallow fluff and oatmeal with powdered sugar dusted over the top. Or curds with marshmallows...either way the resemblance is there. Now as for the shot itself and not the food references, WOW! The light in this is stunning as is the amount of texture and excitement. I love the pebbled lake surface and the smoother, more bulbous land features: that's a whole lotta water locked up in the frosty stuff which means that Spring is going to be rather squishy and squelchy and heaven for earthworms! This is a stunning shot with so many details to enjoy. I love every bit of it.

Wonderful capture! My hat's off to you, be careful standing on sketchy ice on the edge of a lake! Now I too want a slice of meringue pie, and a beer with a good head on it ;)

That edge provides an interesting focal point for this image. The distance down from the fluff to the oatmeal doesn't seem that great (& the oatmeal snow doesn't seem particularly hazardous), yet this bit of terrain seems to me to be pregnant with potential danger. My mind conjures up an alternative landscape in which it's a pit of boiling lava or perhaps a moat filled with ravenously hungry crocodiles. Beware the perils of the imagination...

Mark, this is another stunning winter capture and I very much enjoyed the descriptive terms you used in describing this lovely scene. You certainly seem to be taking some risks to provide us with these amazing photographs. Try not to slip on the ice and get hurt ;)
