Description

After a very hot and humid Summer, the TC (Tropical Cyclone) season has started now, with isolated but torrential downpours and still very high humidity @ 93%, it's almost raining inside!, beach erosion's and lot's of evacuations for people living in the Northern Territory of Queensland (eg Darwin) - everybody is looking for higher grounds ... *** Even this tree snake is looking for higher grounds, trying to get into our house - big problem, the doors were shut ! But just to put you into the picture, we are living 110 m above sea level and that is also ideal for snakes, escaping the high waters and coming up here to visit us, simply because they don't like to drown either. *** It was rather tricky, managing this shot, through the glass-sliding and fly-wire screen doors from a strange angle - me looking at the snake, who was weaving around like mad, hanging from the door handle - and not waiting for the photographer to say 'when' or 'cheese' ... only to stop still for a second ! big NO !!! I mean, really ?- showing no respect, only saying: 'let me in ... right now' ! (a little post-work was absolutely necessary then, IMHO) Cheers, enjoy - whether you like or dislike snakes ;)) Brigitte (aka blondeblurr)

He looks like he wants to be friends. I hope it's not poisonous, though. Where I live, all the snakes that have poison also have rattles to warn people, which I think is very neighborly of them. But I haven't heard about any rattlesnakes living Down Under. It's a wonderful picture, regardless.

Yeah, not a regular guest and on the right side of the glass IMHO ! LOL And I don't think he'll drown either as we would need some Biblical type rains to raise the sea-level to 110m !!! Cool Nature capture & ~Cheers~ p.s. waving, not drowning ... LOL

Yes love your snake, we had one visit us last summer I had to move him off our back porch. Yes you lot down the coast are in for lots more rain , It has started to rain heavy now in Bundaberg but I think we will miss all the wind, up north has lots of homes damaged. All the best to you down there & hope you don't get flooded out.

That's correct, they are not poisonous - but they can still give you a little bite, if being attacked ...

I would not like to have snakes on my door unless I am sure they are not dangerous! Superb capture, Brigitte!

What I said was: All right, I hope you are happy, you made me look. I looked up the Australian Tree Snake on Wikipedia and found that this handsome fellow is harmless to humans. This made me feel better about any danger you might be in. Then I read that part of their diet is the gecko. You tell that sneaky snake to leave my geckos alone! Tell it to go find some shade in that tree over there. After all, its a TREE snake, for God's sake. (Or something like that)

Oh my, is this a dangerous 'knock, knock, to come in', my dear. And then such poison green color! Does it often happens, that snakes come begging to get some food and a warm place in your home, dear friend? I'm so glad you had noticed this unexpected beggar, and shut your door. A wonderful picture, and also a very interesting picture, my Brigitte, I admire your garden a thousand times, what a beauty to be allowed to live there. It looks like a very special place, and I'm a little jealous, really. btw, I'll write you, hope to morrow, sending many hugs ♥

Oh, she's a beauty. But at first I was a little scared. My experience with snake-like creatures with earthworms LOL Their color is camouflaged for a life on the tree. Yes, I have heard of the tropical storm and glad that you are okay. I thought of you. Byeeeeeee.....
