Description
As a widow, Ruth C. Sabin built this home for seniors so that she and other women like her could live together. The Queen Anne style building, constructed in 1888-1889, features heavy brick massing, vertical windows, jack arches and corbelling at the cornice. It was designed by John M. VanOsdel, Chicago’s first architect, who was
the architect for La Porte County’s second courthouse. Obadiah Evory was the contractor.
