Description

I'm not here much now, because of work (and a few health matters), but I want to honor Craig (faroutsider) on his birthday... Craig's a scientist---I believe in biochemistry, or biological studies of some kind (forgive me for not knowing, Craig!), and boy would I like to have studied with him. His heart is so big, I wish he were my teacher. I studied biological sciences in grad school, not to mention theoretical physics---yeah, don't laugh, I was at a school that was famous for it (U. of Chicago), and I drove my profs nuts. (I tried to convince them you could split the atom with a reeeeeallllly good hammer.) But I always thought "if I had another life, I'd be a scientist." So when I see someone as loving and talented as Craig---and then find out he's in the sciences? I think, "yes!" He's such a gentle and embracing soul, he makes the wedding of art and science wholly natural. Craig also edits scientific texts, and does illustrations for them. If you look through his gallery, you'll see how marvelous they are. He (no surprise) does many sci-fi images that I find so thoughtful and caring; and landscapes and mind-scapes so mysterious and beautiful, you get the feeling they came from inside him. Also, his light is wonderful; he understands how it graces everything---which is the thing, that you feel sunshine around Craig...he 'graces' things. It's just wonderful. So Craig, Happy Birthday, and many many more! I wish you all the light and joy in the world. And this image? I have no idea! It happened, that's all...but then, that house is one of my favorites (I blended it with its interior). The rest? Things went a little berserk...But I thank you for the love and warmth you give throughout your life, and wish you many more years of radiance. And---if I ever isolate an enzyme, I'll name it after you: Faroutsiderase. Or, 2,3 Craig Para-Amino-Oxidoreductase...I'm working on it...It'll not only alter chemicals, but fill them with light and love. Huge blessings to you, Craig, you deserve them all

Layers upon layers, in a mystical mitosis of their own...maybe after it has incubated long enough in the proper atmospheric pressures it will be born as an apartment complex, or maybe a millionaire's mansion in Florida. Stunning stuff, Mark!

An honestly charming house, no wonder you like it so much ! and there is so much to discover, if you take the time to explore it ... imagine sitting there on that wooden bench and dreaming the day away (#1) ... and still sitting there, as night falls (#2) - why wouldn't you let the mind wander and simply float away into Nirvana ... and then building up into a big crescendo (#3+4) - with fireworks, to wake you up again from the wanderlust ... full of adventures ... That's what dreams are made of ! ... I'm also imagining you with a big hammer, trying to be splitting atoms - you are a riot Mark ;)) BB What a sensational dedication for a good friend of yours - you described him so well, I almost got to know him - LOL I already had a glimpse into his gallery - will do some more later ... ...and 'Happy Birthday' wishes to Craig - may he also dream on, just like I did here ...

Ahem...cough...shuffle...grin. Thanks so much for your wonderful words, Mark. Once again, I find it difficult to recognise myself in your blurb, but I take your words from whence they come - a man with one of the biggest hearts on the planet (and I'm not talking in a biological sense, here). As for your picture...Wow! No, let me rephrase that. WOWOWOWOW! I dabble with light, you bring it alive. I play with form, you create dazzling form that resonates with complex harmonies (yes, I'm deliberately mixing my metaphors here, because your images create visual music in my brain). I create scenes, you create art. And then you give it away. You're a rare and precious gem, and a wonderfully warm human being (incompatible? not at all). Thank you my friend for your greeting, your gift, and for being you.

A wonderful B-day gift for Craig. Your verbal tribute is as layered and fascinating as your visual. I don't know how you create this art, with so many layers and aspects to it, but it sure is intricate and fascinating. It seems both an exploration and adventure into another realm, discovering things as you go along. And the last two seem to have evolved into pure shapes, colors, and emotions. I've always enjoyed science, however theoretical physics makes my eyes roll, glass over and my body shake, and the right side of my brain go ... 'huh'. Anything involving mathematics makes me want to hide. You seem to have command over the right and left side with great flair, as if they are doing a fantastical dance together.

Mark, your friend really does sound like a great guy and is blessed to have a friend like you. I very much enjoyed this colorful birthday dedication and you're amusing thoughts to go with it that are sure to bring a smile to all who read them. I am going to try to find the time to check out his gallery this weekend if possible.
