Description
just another shot in my spotty return to your wonderful galleries.
taken a few years back. Don't remember why I "sepia'd" it so much, I guess I liked the feel...
Thank you so much for being here and sharing!
I appreciate it greatly

I really like the "sepia'd" look you used here, Mark. I generally associate sepia with historical or nostalgic subjects, but it works really well in this modern urban scene. It somehow gives it a gritty immediacy & reality. And it also works equally well as an abstract collection of textures with a perfectly balanced range of beautiful light & dark tones. I can easily picture this as a huge painting hanging in a modern art museum...

Man and machine are always interesting combos. Good capture and I think the post work adds and interesting texture and mood to the image of what looks to be a very gritty job.

I like what the sepia does to the light quality; it makes it so much more "here"...not sure if that's understandable, but that's how it feels to me. It makes me more aware of every little thing in the shot... Love it!

Other than the pleasant sepia effect applied here, I also detect some abstraction postwork in this fine image of the worker, toiling away at his job, Mark. You also achieved some great contrast and detail with this image. And, with the hand gesture, he appears to be speaking to someone below.

Mark, this is a stellar presentation that gave me a feeling of being right there thanks to the clever point of view you went with. Of course I was scanning the photo closely, taking in all the details in search of what stood out to me most. Then it hit me that it was not necessarily the details throughout, but instead the image of the worker. That is because of the fascination people seem to have with construction workers and watching them do their jobs. Young boys especially can often be seen looking on in awe at construction workers and their loud equipment while they toil away. I know for myself that was the case and surprisingly enough a lot of men still have this childlike fascination with construction workers.

Wow, this just rocks!! We see guys like this working everywhere, but you really captured the mood here. Sepia or not, this is a great shot!!

This one is fantastic. I love the sepia/poster treatment: I'm sure there is an art movement that has a word for what this is, but I have no clue what that art movement might be...it does seem expressionistic in a sense. The composition really rocks, as does the treatment of so common a subject matter. This image actually shows why I prefer science fiction, fantasy, magical realism (science fiction/fantasy without the cajones to call itself what it is) and other forms of "the fantastic) you get a different take on reality that actually gets to the existential root of it all, and so in that light, I can say that this isn't the image of a worker so much as it's the essence of that particular worker at that particular moment, and that says a whole lot more than just a "normal" photo. I love that you've captured the mood of the tableau in front of your camera. This is really well seen and perfectly presented.

Wonderful tones and image. Great shot!!!

I so agree with Denise, that seeing this in sepia or monocrome as such, or almost so, does something to the shapes and details, You actually see another whole than you would, if it was all in different colors. Sometimes colors steal the attention where it shouldnt :) Here you get the full composition and harmony in your shot. And I do like that edge filter you gave it too. You are a master in postworking, dear Mark :)

I love the rhythm this image has. The different elements hang together so well, making for a composition that skips across the page (screen), all seemingly directed by the worker's hand. He's the conductor, and the parts and pieces are dancing to his direction beautifully!
