Description

How I feel at the moment! An experiment which will interest Helle. I fastened four of the new Stabilo 88 fineliners together with an elestic band and then very quickly drew the face. The background colours were added with big broad Letraset markers. It took about 5 minutes, great fun. A6 pad

Cool! Kind of looks like one of those old style red & blue 3D images. Used to keep a pair of those glasses around here someplace (from back when 3d movies were a rare novelty not a done-to-death gimmick) but haven't been able to find them the last few times I tried.

Oh, I know that feeling! I love the doodle and your technique is inspiring! I'll have to attempt that, though I doubt that my end-result will be anything like this. Such an expressive face: I love the eyes and the earrings.

What Juliette said. I thought you didn't drink. This is anything but below par. A clever idea and a wonderful example of your signature doodle.

You are right, Mark, I've not drunk alcohol for fifty years. I hadn't even sniffed a barmaids apron when I drew this.

Andrea, I've just begun in your gallery, and now I'm called away. I'll pick it up tomorrow, as soon as I'm free. But I'll end here with this piece. And I'll say I'm sorry you felt this way when you posted it. But despite the glum expression, there's a party-like feel to it too---from your multiple Stabilo-bunch, making all those festive lines. And festive hues too. It's almost like someone drunk on delicious champagne. I know you don't drink (you've said it elsewhere, a ways back), and this could be someone simply drowsy and depressed. But there is a party atmosphere in the hues and lines. Andy Warhol started out drawing these kinds of lines, in his beautiful album covers, using jazzy alive lines. (He didn't tie Stabilos together, but he did get living lines.) And it's got a beautiful light blue behind it too. So maybe the Stabilo's picked you up, because it's glum but quite light and airy. And of course your characterization of human expression is wonderful and spot on. I even like the spiral at the top---the pad's addition---because it kind of grounds her, from above. You'll always make me happy when you post 2D. I think it's buoyant and dancing, right alongside glum. I love it. (Here are 3 warhol album covers---before his famous pop pieces. He'd just begun his career. I may have shared some before, and you may know them anyway; but they're worth revisiting. They're way tiny jpgs, but they still show his facile expressive line. Here they are: http://www.artsjournal.com/rifftides/wp/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Warhol-Burrell.jpg https://40.media.tumblr.com/6a89040f4489b9680d920c333cd60e1f/tumblr_n3p3r2Nol01t51cv6o3_500.jpg http://www.bluenote.com/cdn/mceuploads/releases/blue-lights-volumes-1-amp-2.jpg)
