It reminds me of pictures of New York City from the early 20th century where many immigrants lived. Of course, in New York there would be no banners just laundry handing on the line. A fascinating glimpse into the other side of China. Excellent image and post work.

Great mood. I love the PW you did!

This is a fascinating glimpse, as wysiwig says: and I love what you've done to this. I get a strong sense of enclosure, as I tend to get from any crowded environment with buildings taller than 3 stories. The colors in this are wonderfully complex and I love the various textures/moods all swirling together in one image. Really nice human interest in the photo as well. This is brilliantly done.

An absolute joy! I don't know how you do these but the results are always wonderful. This one, with the bright colours and vibrant mood, is particularly spectacular, I love it!

I agree with mark (wysiwyg) about the streets of old New York, but this is also clearly asia. Your postwork with these teeming captures is magical. You bring out the verticals and horizontals with brilliance. You make the facades feel like they 'cascade' their way down to the ground---which they do, visually; you just bring that out all the more. Photography, at its best, penetrates inner truths, leaving the outer truths merely "suggestions". And you do that all the time. The inner truth of these descending walls sings from these shots, while the factual truth is given a pat on the head---for doing its job---and then asked to step aside and let the real vision come forth. Beautiful lines, beautiful shadows, an almost cubist breakup into geometrical shapes, only its very subtle compared to the cubists. And the light in the center-back building---and the watercolor washed-over feel of it---makes a centerpiece that's almost from a dream. The banners are bold heavy statements, and the people and cars are like bass lines in a Bach cantata. Brilliant and beautiful. You've done it again...whoosh...
