Description

Bob (Shroom_Magic3D) has deserved a dedi from me for months, and I can't tell you how relieved I am that I could finally post it! It all came down to the image: I tried to capture a piece of Bob's creative heart, but couldn't. So I did an homage to his abstracts. And while mine doesn't have the scope of his, it's my bow to an amazing life in the creative arts. We visit galleries for years, but never know how much the artist has actually done: Bob's been a professional artist for years---physical and digital, commercial and fine, serious and playful...he's done art-restoration, and come up with a formula for lifting the varnish off paintings, to remove the varnish without damaging the paint (in order to clean and replace---highly exacting work!). He's painted, on commission, a number of reproductions of masterworks, including by Dali, the Dutch masters, etc---a long-gone art, I might add, even though it was one of the key ways artists learned for centuries. To hear him write of it is to listen to someone deeply in love with art, and with the precious act of turning a single stroke into poetry. Since joining RR, he's produced a body of work that, to me, is not only dazzling but oh-so joyous and playful. He's also done expert Poser models. I've told him many times that I haven't a clue how it's done, lol, that I can only appreciate them for their aesthetics...but that includes his unerring design-sense, his expert use of texture and hue, his expert backgrounds, his impeccable framing/proportions, clothing and accouterments...like a photographer in his studio. Yet, for me, his abstractions keep calling me back, along with his wondrous fantasies (with dragons, birds, spirits, faeries, and stars): They beam. Do you know the oft-stated difference between "child-like" and "child-ish"? The former's the deep spirit of a child. Bob's got the former, a grand adult with the heart of an overflowing child. He even posted a cartoon mural---done for his beloved grandson (whose face graces Bob's avatar): It's just marvelous. When I found it, I wrote: "Holy cow...I had no idea you did this type of work..." A big, big spirit... Bob, you seem wholly in love with life, filled with spirit and dance. This dedi's not for a special occasion: It's for you...for your constant love here, and constant joy. I know you've had your share of difficult times (as many of us have), but you come here and you shine, and I've been so flattered by it all. Having seen your huge gallery, I've seen your depths and breadths, and you remind me of Auden's famous lines about W.B. Yeats: "Follow, poet, follow right/To the bottom of the night,/With your unconstraining voice/Still persuade us to rejoice..." Please accept this image as my homage, and let the bottom be the 'celebration'. (It's supposed to be a party---made of the same material as the 1st.) I'm deeply grateful for all you've done, and I wish you reams of light and beauty back. Believe me, you deserve it all, Mark (It's very big---please zoom!)

Mark, this work is rich and absolutely stunning; the colour range goes from one spot all the way around and back to the start, missing nothing in between. I love the soft flowing lines, it ripples like a silk scarf! Bravo!!!

Much too compounded with fantastic colors, blends, shapes and patterns for me to attempt to conjure up any unique superlative comments on this fabulous dedi for your friend, Mark.

Mark, this is without a doubt one of the most thoughtful and kind dedications anyone could hope to receive. First of all thank you so much for sharing so much detailed information about Bob and how talented he is. You think by now I'd have learned from past experiences that there is often so much more about the people we are in contact with every day that we never even now. Bob has always been so humble and kind, taking time to write me over the years and has been a friend to myself and many others. I've long enjoyed his artistic talents and will appreciate them even more after viewing this dedication and his response to it. The one thing I can speak to is Bob is a dear friend with a caring heart. Speaking of that you have illustrated you're caring for Bob with this beautiful dedication that is indeed filled with love.

WOW! an orgy in wonderful colors and shapes. It gives such a positiv effect to my mind, watching these dancing colors, one in a magic bubble and the other running free... or so it feels to me :-) There is something organic in this gorgeous piece of art :)

Ooohhh, I just love this---circles and colors and and floating clouds in the first image. Then the second one just jumps right out at you, not subtle or quiet about it at all!! A wonderful gift for Shroom_Magic3D!!

Such a lovely dedi for Bob. I had no idea he has such extensive and varied art abilities. And your abstracts are so wonderfully colorful and full of life. They feel like a grand celebration of the excitement and adventure that abounds in Bob's artistic life.
