Description
Another house that's built into the side of a mountain. This one is also in the Dordogne...

Definitely - Les Eyzies de Tayac with the large Cave Man statue up there on a ledge.

Does not look safe - but maybe they don't have earthquake there.

Not quite as appealing as the other one, but still amazing.

photo-wise I like the other one more, but it still is fantastic architecture

Can't imagine how one would scale the wall to get to the entrance of this unique housing unit. Yikes "Go play in the traffic" seems a lot more closer to home than I would bargain for indeed. Great camera work as always !

They must really trust mountains in this part of the world...Frank Lloyd Wright built his famous "falling water" house (outside Pittsburgh---I'm sure you've seen pictures of it) into the rock and over a waterfall; and I've read that the water makes enough noise to make residents think they're living inside a washing machine. But with stone like this, there's little sound of water, I assume. As a photo, you've whited out the sky, which again is a choice I really like: The house and stone stand out all the more because of it. It brings a purity to the subject material (and also steps up the 'key'). And your crop makes it like a big chunk of house with a massive hairdo. It even looks like there are windows in the stone itself (maybe, maybe not). A daring pov, and very assertive, with a goodly measure of stone and facade. Just fascinating powerful camerwork, Claude.

Nothing but nightmares if I lived there!
