Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I love the Columbia River Gorge and surrounding area. Thanks for sharing. :)

These are much nicer than the military housing my family lived in when I was a baby. And $175 would have been about three months salary back then.

They certainly do look a lot nicer than they likely looked when they were built! Great view and shot!

Are you kidding? I never had it that good during my service days in the US Army.

Well, if they have room service and Perrier, I'd say they DEFINITELY didn't have those amenities years ago. (Harry would know...he fought in WWII.) It's really a nice shot, Marilyn, the layout of the barracks is so complex and pleasing. Nice layering of the levels, and nice contrasts of roofs and shapes against that deep green background. And you cut it off at the bottom, which brings the houses right into our vision. I really like this shot. And if it weren't a military sight, I'd say it looks like a little village...
