Description

I was in the greenhouse and noticed this large and upset person struggling to release itself from a web. I managed to help it out of the window, where it remained attached for a full minute while I took a couple of photos. This is the only one that shows how cross it was! I have never seen a hornet in my garden before, so I wonder where there is a nest..I don't think I have a suitable site, such as a hollow tree.

"Out, damned spider! Out, I say!" (a bad twist on Macbeth...) Andrea, this is fabuloso, as you'd say. I love the motion, and how the hornet is looking right at us. (Or you.) A marvelous shot. And the greens behind him are shooting up like they're rays. Couldn't be more well-placed. A big arc for wings. A really fine action shot, I love the motion, and those big eyes are in-tense! Terrific!

I admire your courage. I may be a whisperer, but these things get a very wide berth from me when I see them. They seem to be so bad tempered. Great opportunity though.
