very dramatic, Claude, very powerful. The tortured crucifix, with that intense light (from our left) is stunning in this treatment. And you let the right side be dissolved into deep shadow. Also, there's more of that wall painting---looks faded from the years, but I see some hands above, maybe lords or kings or saints. And a figure on our right---who I assume had some stature in his/her time. But it looks oddly Chinese, Korean or Japanese. How strange, for a french medieval fortress. The shadow cast by the crucifix is as spooky as it is comforting. And the overall feel is of a blast of light in an otherwise deeply hidden place. Very strong, and makes one aware of how enclosed these spaces really were...Very powerful. When this went up, 2 days back, I stared at it a while, before moving on...it caught me in my tracks.
