I don't recall that being common. I thought the Victorians were more symmetrical. An absolutely gorgeous piece that would probably cost thousands if made today.

this has a darker tint (perhaps from the light in the room) and yes, we can see the different patterns. I don't know the history, maybe Mark's right...But it's different and with more floral design on top. A darker more reddish tone, and another beautiful top to this beautiful wardrobe closet. What a great piece of skill here, now we just have rubbish, saw dust held together with glue, and everything and nothing is made from this MDF crap. So nice to see the way furniture used to be.
